6B Motivation: The Path Away From Procrastination

When you think of extrinsic and intrinsic motivation you think of how things can motivate you, but it can also relate to procrastination. Having either motivation can lead to be a procrastinator no matter what. We all know that we do it and we know it is not a good thing to do it either. Having no motivation can be overwhelming and lead to procrastinate. Either having a big project, lots of homework, or an overwhelming situation mostly affects procrastinating. By having either extrinsic or intrinsic motivation, it can lead to you not being a procrastinator.

By having extrinsic motivation, which means you have motivation only because there is a reward in the end, it can still prevent you from procrastinating at times. The obvious is that we will procrastinate at some point and multiple times during our lives. But by having that reward at the end can help from leaving a homework assignment or big project for last minute.

"If practice doesn't make perfect then at least it makes progress"

Practicing having either motivation can save you from procrastinating often. It doesn't matter which one you have, but the good part is that they both help in the end. People say having extrinsic motivation is not the way to be because all you want is that reward. Others say the opposite. Some people say having intrinsic motivation is the best way because you learn from the experience and appreciate the learning path you just had. I think that having either motivation can be good. Sometimes things motivate us differently. Sometime I may only be looking for the reward, but other times I may be looking to appreciate the experience and what got me there.

In the end having either motivation can lead to preventing procrastination. People just never really think about it!
